Trip guides and hiking instructors

The base of our club are the guides and the people who plan hikes and run our club for years. They deserve our honor and thanks. In the following section we present their character. We also thank the former or occasional trip guides, whom we do not mention here directly.

Meanwhile, in the Dargovských hrdinov housing estate, they opened a hiking club at the local office and organized a public event, which I also participated in. Since 1983, I started going with them regularly. That's when organized hiking began for me. When this club was canceled, in 1986 I joined TJ Lokomotíva and KST. Here I completed basic hiking guide training and in 2002 I obtained the qualification of hiking guide (PT).

Since then, I have been organizing hiking, skiing and cycling tours, as well as leading "lunochods", which I took over on behalf of Karol Hrubý. My most valuable tourist achievements include climbing Gerlachovský štít and walking the SNP route.

From 1990 to 1998 I worked as a PT instructor and also as the leader of TOM Orlie pero at the Fábryho Elementary School in Košice. TOM Orlie pero also became a member of TJ Lokomotíva Košice. Those were some of the most beautiful times when we walked around Slovakia with the children and when we meet, they are still grateful to me for it. They very much remember that part of their childhood and youth when we wandered around the Slovak Paradise or the Tatras.

It all started like this: I went to Bankov with my daughter to collect some autumn nature items for school art class. There was so much that the whole class missed it. Then the class teacher at Fábryho Elementary School came up with the idea that since I know the terrain so well, why not become the leader of a hiking group. I agreed. At first, about half the class of children went, then other classes joined in. It continued until the eighth grade, so I devoted myself to them for about five years.

The then chairman of the tourist section of Lokomotíva, Mr. Ladislav Soták, saw in me a promising chairman of the tourist section and it was a matter of his heart to appoint me there. When he resigned, he proposed me as the most suitable candidate. And so I became the chairman of a club of about 70 members for one electoral term. The old days also remind me of a certain culture of meeting, we had a nice meeting room in a dignified environment and storage facilities.

My term ended with the founding meeting in January 2003, when we founded a civic association with the new name Klub všestrannej turistiky Košičan with a new chairman, Mr. Milan Eliáš, while I remained a member of the committee. In 2012, I asked the management of TJ Lokomotíva to renew my membership of the tourist club and my request was granted. We have premises for club meetings at TJ Lokomotíva.

At the Annual Membership Meeting on February 13, 2018, the then Chairman, Ing. Ladislav Molnár, resigned from his position. The General Assembly, by an absolute majority of votes, approved me as the acting Chairman of the KVT Košičan until the end of the regular term of office in 2019. At the Annual Membership Meeting on January 22, 2019, I was confirmed as Chairman.

I have also been involved in road marking activities since 1993, when, at the suggestion of Viktor Muššák, I completed basic road marking training in Stará Ľubovňa in 1993. In 2003, I qualified as a road marking instructor in Harmónia. Since 2003, I have been elected chairman of the Košice-City Road Marking Commission for the outgoing Viktor Muššák until the present (2021).

Later, as a member of TJ Spoje, a colleague and I founded a tourism section at TJ Spoje. Our activities covered the entire former East Slovak region. After leaving telecommunications, I participated in events organized by KVT Košičan since 2003, in 2007 I became a member of KVT and since 2011 I have become one of the organizers of tourism events. In 2017, I renewed my qualification as a hiking instructor.

I have participated in several national tourist gatherings, both summer and winter. I regularly participated in the International Tourism Week in Wallachia, until the date coincided with the date of the National Gathering.

I am happy when as many tourists as possible participate in my events and when on my wanderings I meet many people, especially young people, who prefer nature to sitting in front of the TV and PC. At my events, I focus on cultural and educational activities. I like to describe the places that we pass through with tourists. I also like to tell tourists in the club about the trips we have taken. My favorite places include the Slovak Paradise and the Slovak Karst. I like to return to interesting places with tourists who have not visited them yet.
